Health reform Q&A: Here's what you need to know to enroll
Open enrollment through the Washington Health Benefit Exchange begins this week.
Washington state residents who do not have access to health insurance will be able to research and enroll in health plans starting Tuesday, Oct. 1, through a commercial plan that they can select on the Washington Health Plan Finder or find out whether they are eligible for expanded Medicaid.

If I have questions, can I talk to a real person to get help?
MultiCare Health System has 50 in-person assisters, trained by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department, to help with enrollment and answer questions at all MultiCare hospitals, clinics and emergency departments. To speak with an in-person assister, call 1-800-613-4133.
Why would I enroll?
Individuals in Washington will be required to have health insurance beginning Jan. 1, 2014 under the Affordable Care Act. This is part of a nationwide effort to make health care more accessible for those who do not have access to care.
How long do I have?
Open enrollment for the commercial plans ends March 31, 2014. Coverage goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2014.
