Personal Life

map

The MultiCare service area is in the most densely populated region of Washington state, but is also one of the most livable areas in the entire country. Whether you are avid about the outdoors, a true urbanite, or somewhere in between, this region offers a lifestyle that you can fully enjoy. It allows you to play in the snow in the morning, sail in the afternoon and enjoy Broadway plays or professional sports and concerts in the evening. For the millions of people who already live here, enjoying easy access to the beautiful outdoors as well as to major metropolitan areas is our way of life.

MultiCare's primary service area extends from Kent in South King County, which is 15 miles south of Seattle; through all of Pierce County, which encompasses Tacoma, Puyallup, Gig Harbor and Steilacoom; down into Thurston County, including Olympia; and into Kitsap County. Mary Bridge Children's Hospital & Health Center and Good Samaritan's Children's Therapy Unit serve western Washington residents all the way from South King County to Oregon border, and from east of the Cascade Mountains to the Pacific beaches.

Take a breath of fresh air

You're in for a surprise if you think all it does is rain in the Northwest. Tacoma's average annual precipitation is 37.2 inches - less than Miami and New York City. Most of the yearly precipitation occurs between October and March. And when the sun does shine enjoy views of snow capped mountain ranges, blue water and evergreen hills.

Relish all this region has to offer. Weather is temperate year-round. Summer highs reach into the 80s, while daytime winter temperatures average in the 40s. In Tacoma and the surrounding communities, snow falls once or twice a year but, it generally melts within a day. And, several winter recreation areas, ranging from 3,500 and 5,000 feet in altitude are close - from 45 minutes to a few hours away.

Diverse education options

Both public and private educational opportunities are available for all age groups. There are more than six higher learning institutions in the area, including the University of Washington (with Tacoma and Seattle campuses), University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University, Evergreen State College and Seattle University. Some are ranked among the highest in the nation.

MultiCare communities also have great public school districts and private school options.
