Living with Chronic Conditions

If you suffer from a chronic condition or illness, life can be challenging at times. MultiCare can help you manage your condition and improve the quality of your life.

What is a chronic condition?

A chronic condition is anything that affects your daily life. Some examples of chronic conditions are:

  • Diabetes
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Heart Disease
  • Depression
  • Asthma
  • Kidney Disease

MultiCare’s Chronic Disease Management Program offers a free, six week workshop, designed by Stanford University, to help people learn to manage their conditions and improve the quality of their lives. In the workshop you’ll meet others who understand the challenges you face. Some of the subjects covered include:

  • Managing Stress
  • Setting achievable goals
  • Dealing with emotional changes
  • Designing your own exercise program
  • Solving problems effectively
  • Taking steps to healthy eating

The Living Well with Chronic Conditions workshops are led by two trained peer facilitators who also have a chronic condition. Workshops are 2 ½ hours, once a week, for six weeks. You are welcome to bring a family member, caregiver, or friend.

MultiCare is currently offering the workshop in several different locations:

Tacoma – MultiCare Allenmore Hospital
Puyallup – MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital
Covington – MultiCare Covington Medical Center
