Obstetrician-gynecologists, or OB/GYNs, are specialists in every aspect of women's health, focusing primarily on gynecological issues, breast health, prenatal care and childbirth.
Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists, also known as perinatologists, are obstetrician-gynecologists who have completed advanced training in the care of very high-risk pregnancies and births. They care for mothers who are at risk of complications before the baby is born, in consultation with your OB/GYN physician or family practice obstetrician. Maternal-Fetal Medicine doctors provide care by physician referral only.
Urogynecologists (UroGyns) are obstetrics and gynecology doctors who have completed advanced fellowship training in Female Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive surgery. They specialize in treating disorders of the pelvic floor, ranging from bladder or bowel control issues, urinary leakage and pelvic organ prolapse (dropped bladder, vagina, uterus).
