The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital

Main Entry
“More than bricks and mortar, a hospital is where the spirit of compassion can find a home.” - Ed Burtnett, Vice President of Support Services

When Good Samaritan Foundation's Board of Trustees launched the $10 million dollar fund raising campaign for Good Samaritan’s new Patient Care Tower in 2008, they never imagined the incredible passion with which the hospital’s “family” would respond.  Board members, hospital staff, volunteers and physicians kicked off the ambitious campaign with unparalleled excitement and commitment, resulting in The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital meeting $7.6 million dollars of the $10 million goal thus far.

Today, a group of dedicated campaign volunteers brings the campaign to our entire East Pierce County community, inviting you to learn about the patient care tower project and challenging you to catch their enthusiasm for Good Samaritan’s ability to serve our friends and family when they need it most, close to home.

Funding for the enhancements to the new tower began in 2008 with gifts from Good Samaritan’s “family”. The campaign launched with those closest to the project - the Good Samaritan Hospital Board of Directors and Good Samaritan Foundation Board of Trustees - who generously pledged their financial support, with gifts totaling $2.61 million.

Harnessing the momentum from the boards, the employee division of the campaign kicked off with over Employee Shirts125 employees working as volunteer solicitors who personally asked their peers to participate to the campaign. The employee goal began at $500,000, but rallying to the motto of “We’re making Good Sam GREAT!”, the employees raised an astounding $1.1 million in eight short weeks.

Eager to match the employees’ fervor and show support for the new Patient Care Tower, Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary and Celebrate Seniority’s Grannies’ Attic each made a $500,000 commitment to support The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital—a record-breaking $1 million from our volunteer groups!

The final leg of the campaign’s “family” phase centered on physicians— those employed directly by Good Samaritan Hospital and those who practice in our community. Under the leadership of co-chairs Dr. Robert Corliss, Dr. Bret Lambert, Dr. Cecil Snodgrass and Dr. Carrie Wong, the physician division carried the positive energy into the medical community. Our physicians endorsed the project with gifts totaling $1.7 million.

The Good Samaritan “family” passed the torch to a cabinet of volunteer solicitors in October 2009 and officially kicked off the community phase of The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital. Since that time, the cabinet volunteers have been busy campaigning in the community, asking others to join them in giving to The Campaign for Good Samaritan Hospital.

With your help, we will make Good Samaritan GREAT!
