Good Morning America films boy's rehabilitation at Good Samaritan
“Good Morning America” correspondent Neal Karlinsky and a TV crew visited MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Wash., on Thursday to follow the rehabilitation of Spanaway’s 12-year-old Dale Ostrander.
Dale was rescued from the Washington coast last month after spending more than 15 minutes underwater.
The segment about Dale is scheduled to air during Tuesday’s “Good Morning America” program on ABC, which is KOMO channel 4 in the Seattle area.
The TV crew interviewed Dale and his parents, as well as Good Samaritan’s Dr. John Benson, and filmed Good Samaritan’s speech, occupational and physical therapists working with Dale.
The family has started a blog for Dale at http://prayersfordale.blogspot.com.
The Good Samaritan Regional Rehabilitation Center is recognized as one of the best in the nation, and outcomes are consistently at or above the national averages. The center is one of three Level 1 trauma rehabilitation centers designated by the state.
Each client’s inpatient rehabilitation program is managed by a physiatrist like Dr. Benson — a doctor who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation.
Good Samaritan’s reputation for excellent rehabilitation services is rooted in history. The hospital began offering rehabilitation care when the hospital first opened in 1952. The first rehabilitation center was built in 1954. A larger center opened in 1982 and served us until it was replaced by the current facility in March 2001.Posted on Sep 2, 2011 in East Pierce County, In the News
