MultiCare mobile unit vaccinates area youths
By Andrew Fickes
The Herald (Puyallup)
It’s summer time and of course, school is just around the corner. Families are likely out shopping for back-to-school clothes but what they may be putting off are those all important vaccination shots.
On Thursday, Aug. 11, the MultiCare Mobile Health Services was stationed at the South Hill Mall in the courtyard outside Old Country Buffet. Each summer, during the July, August and September months, the mobile health services keeps very busy.
“It’s all hands on deck,” said Robin Peterson, a registered nurse and coordinator for the MultiCare Mobile Health Services at Good Samaritan.
At the South Hill Mall, the mobile health unit served about 28 people from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. In July, Peterson said her team administered 300 vaccines but in August and September that number will likely rise to 1,800 each month.
