MultiCare is a leading-edge, integrated health organization made up of four hospitals including Allenmore Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital, Mary Bridge Children's Hospital and Tacoma General Hospital, numerous primary care and urgent care clinics, multi-specialty centers, Hospice and Home Health services, and many other services. A not-for-profit organization based in Tacoma, Washington since 1882, MultiCare has grown over the years in response to community needs. Today we are the area's largest provider of health care services, serving patients at 93 locations in Pierce, South King, Kitsap and Thurston counties.

2009 Awards and Recognitions

  • MultiCare placed sixth nationally on an annual listing of integrated health networks (IHN), as compiled by SDI (formerly Verispan). 
  • MultiCare earned Best Large Business, while Tacoma General Hospital earned Best Hospital and Best Place to Have a Baby by readers of South Sound Magazine.

2008 Awards and Recognitions

  • The National Research Corporation (NRC),  has honored Tacoma General with the 2008/09 Consumer Choice award, based on surveying regional consumers.

  • VHA West Coast Performance Awards Certificate of Recognition:
    • Community Benefit, MultiCare Center For Healthy Living
    • Clinical Performance Achievement to Tacoma General, Allenmore and Good Samaritan hospitals
    • Innovation is going to the Mary Bridge Parenting Partnership

  • VHA West Coast Award Trophy Community Benefit and Team Collaboration:
    • The Community Benefit: Nurse Camp

  • The Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized MultiCare Health System as the “Chamber Member of the Year.”

  • MultiCare Health System recently received national recognition from the American Heart Association as a Gold Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company.
    • MultiCare is also one of only 12 companies recognized nationally with the Community Fitness Innovation Award, in addition to achieving the Gold Level recognition.
  • Allenmore C Building has been chosen as a Building of America project and will be featured in the upcoming Real Estate & Construction Review-2009 Northwest Edition.

  • MultiCare Health System has received the Hope Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Washington.

  • MultiCare won several Aster Awards, which recognize excellence in health care marketing, including two gold medals. Gold medals were received for 2007 Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital transit and newspaper series advertising. MultiCare also won silver and bronze Aster awards for 2007 Gig Harbor MultiCare Medical Park print and television advertising.

  • Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center’s Vice President & Administrator Mady Murrey, RN, MN is the 2008 recipient of the VHA West Coast Passion Award.

  • MultiCare Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Diane Cecchettini, RN, has received the CEO IT Achievement Award for 2008 from Modern Healthcare Magazine and the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS).

  • Area consumers have once again selected Tacoma General Hospital as the hospital they would choose for their health care. That’s the finding of National Research Corporation (NRC), which has honored Tacoma General with the 2008/09 Consumer Choice award.
