MultiCare Health System hospitals, Home Health, and Hospice services are accredited by the Joint Commission. This accreditation is a nationwide seal of approval indicating that we meet high performance standards related to the quality and safety of our patient care.

2009 Awards and Recognitions

  • The National Research Corporation (NRC),  has honored Tacoma General with the 2009/10 Consumer Choice award, based on surveying regional consumers.

  • MultiCare Health System was awarded the 2009 HIMSS Davies Organizational Award of Excellence for our Electronic Health Record.

  • MultiCare Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Diane Cecchettini, RN, was named Outstanding Health Care Executive - Metropoloitan Region by Seattle Business Monthly.

  • MultiCare Health System placed sixth nationally on an annual listing of integrated health networks (IHN), as compiled by SDI (formerly Verispan). 

  • MultiCare Health System earned Best Large Business, while Tacoma General Hospital earned Best Hospital and Best Place to Have a Baby by readers of South Sound Magazine.

  • MultiCare Health System was named one of the nation's 100 Most Wired Health Systems and one of the 25 Most Wireless Health Systems by Hospital & Health Network Magazine.

  • John VanBuskirk, DO, was named Physician of the Year for 2009 by the Home Care Association of Washington.

  • “Distinction Award for Best Overall Website for a Healthcare System” from eHealthcare Strategy & Trends.

  • The Auburn Area Chamber of Commerce has recognized MultiCare Health System as the “Chamber Member of the Year.”

  • MultiCare Health System recently received national recognition from the American Heart Association as a Gold Level Start! Fit-Friendly Company.
    • MultiCare is also one of only 12 companies recognized nationally with the Community Fitness Innovation Award, in addition to achieving the Gold Level recognition.
  • Allenmore C Building has been chosen as a Building of America project and will be featured in the upcoming Real Estate & Construction Review-2009 Northwest Edition.

  • MultiCare Health System has received the Hope Award from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of Washington.

  • MultiCare won several Aster Awards, which recognize excellence in health care marketing, including two gold medals. Gold medals were received for 2007 Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital transit and newspaper series advertising. MultiCare also won silver and bronze Aster awards for 2007 Gig Harbor MultiCare Medical Park print and television advertising.

  • Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center’s Vice President & Administrator Mady Murrey, RN, MN is the 2008 recipient of the VHA West Coast Passion Award.

  • MultiCare Health System President and Chief Executive Officer Diane Cecchettini, RN, has received the CEO IT Achievement Award for 2008 from Modern Healthcare Magazine and the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS).

  • Area consumers have once again selected Tacoma General Hospital as the hospital they would choose for their health care. That’s the finding of National Research Corporation (NRC), which has honored Tacoma General with the 2008/09 Consumer Choice award.
