Loss, Grief and Bereavement Support Services
All of the services below are available to you at no cost. For information regarding these and other services, please contact Bereavement Support Services, at 253-301-6400, or toll-free 888-516-4504.
Skilled Counseling
We offer individual appointments on a short term basis, to explore your loss experiences, coping and concerns surrounding your loss. Counseling is different than therapy. We do not provide therapy, but if that's your need, we can help with referrals.
Over the course of the first year of your grieving process, you may receive literature and information about grief and the grieving process as well and information and invitations for community support and events.
Grief Support Groups
We offer ongoing opportunities to attend grief support groups. We hold our 8 week educational support groups in several different locations. Groups fill up quickly and we do require registration ahead of time to attend.
Telephone Outreach
Counselors and Volunteers who are trained in the issues of grief and loss are available to support you by telephone.
Memorial Services
Each year we offer two opportunities to memorialize your loved ones; at the beginning of the year with the Spring Tea and in December at our annual Light Up a Life Service.
Living With Grief Through the Holidays
Each year in collaboration with the other community bereavement services providers we offer a seminar that provides practical information and ideas about how to care for your self and your family during the holidays and other times of meaning.
Community Referrals
If you are looking for support services outside of this area or need more than we can offer, we will assist you in getting connected.
Although these services are offered at no charge, we always accept donations.
