NRP Hospital-Based Instructor Course

The American Academy of Pediatrics and American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program provides participants the skills and knowledge to successfully resuscitate neonates following delivery in the hospital or care setting. The content of the program reflects evidence-based medicine and is taught in a problem based learning format, designed to enhance the learner’s confidence and emphasize the role of teamwork in a successful neonatal resuscitation.

The NRP 6th edition focuses on educational methodology not passing or failing an exam. We will now have the majority of instructor-participant interaction focused on hands-on learning, immersive simulations and constructive debriefings.

The following course prerequisites must be completed by the course date: Self-study the 6th edition Neonatal Resuscitation textbook. Take and pass the NRP 6th ed. examination, all lessons 1-9 in the 30 days before the instructor course. This will be an additional expense as we do not have our hospital links and accounts set up yet. Log in to aap.org/nrp to access the test. There is a $26.00 fee to pay to take the exam. View the NRP instructor DVD within 30 days before the instructor class (view time is 4 hours) and complete the examination attached to the video. Self-study the Neonatal Resuscitation instructor manual.
