Caring for a child with special needs requires some skills not covered in your basic parenting manual... There’s no script for explaining to your 17 year old son with Down Syndrome why he can’t sit on Santa’s lap at the mall... Very few people understand what is like to spend three hours every week entertaining siblings in yet another waiting room... “How to be positive while helping a room full of relatives understand why your child with autism is hiding in the clothes hamper” is a topic not covered in most Mommy and Me class discussions. When caring for a child with special needs, sometimes you feel like you’re on your own. That’s how the Ark Angels started. We are a group of parents and supporters of Children’s Therapy Unit (CTU) of Good Samaritan, but the Support group is open to everyone. |
