Clinical Research
The Clinical Research Program at the Children’s Therapy Unit is designed to help find the best way to treat children who have movement disorders such as cerebral palsy, spina bifida and muscular dystrophy.
In our state-of-the-art movement laboratory our staff studies the benefits of physical and occupational therapy, orthotic design and surgery.
We also conduct clinical trials outside the movement laboratory. For example, using videotapes made during a child’s treatment in the clinic, our staff can evaluate the way the child’s muscles are working.
This information tells the therapist what treatment techniques will work best for the child. With this information, we can design an individual program that will provide the best possible results for the child.
For information on the program, call David G. Embrey, PhD at 253-697-5255 or e-mail him at embreda@goodsamhealth.org.
