Better Connected to Our Community
MultiCare’s roots date back to the founding of Tacoma’s first hospital — The Fannie C. Paddock Memorial Hospital — in 1882. In the 130 years since, we have grown into a not-for-profit health care system composed of five hospitals and a clinic network serving the people of the South Puget Sound region. We remain locally based and governed by a board of community volunteers.
As the largest health care system in the South Puget Sound region, we are dedicated to enhancing the health of the people we serve, upholding our mission of providing quality patient care and supporting the communities we call home. Our commitment is reflected in the many programs and services we provide — from health and nutrition programs for underserved schoolchildren to coordinating one of Tacoma’s best-loved community fundraising events. Though our range of programs is broad, each one shares a single focus: to help improve the lives of people in our communities.
In 2012 alone, MultiCare provided free and subsidized health care services valued at an estimated cost of $137 million. We remain committed to serving our community, now and in the future.
