CPR Certification

Employee number and badge are required on the day of class for all of these courses.
CPR Renewal course will continue to operate on a drop-in basis. Due to very high volumes in the CPR Renewal classes, you must arrive by 3:30 pm in order to complete your certification which can take up to two hours.

ACLS/CPR Initial Registration guidelines:
For registration, please use the following codes:
CPR Registrations: 701HCILD
ACLS Registrations:702ALILD
These courses will be provided at no cost one time per person, per certification term (two years). Failure to attend a scheduled class (without 24 hour notification of cancellation) will result in a charge for the next class attended. Prices vary.
- The voucher code can be provided to employees so that any employee may attend a CPR class. Long term agency staff may be allowed to use the coupon code at the manager’s discretion.
- MultiCare pays for employees to attend one CPR class every two year period. If employees do not properly cancel and are recorded as a no show, the employee will be required to pay for subsequent class within that same two year period.
- MultiCare pays for employees to attend one ACLS every two year period for employees whose job requires it. As with CPR, if the employee does not properly cancel and is recorded as a no show, the employee will be required to pay for subsequent classes within that same two year period.
- ACLS/CPR books and other course material will be made available through the Wagner Library 30 days prior to the class.
- Books will be collected at the completion of the course.
- Books may be purchased through the Cascade Training. Information on book purchase is available when you sign up for class.
PALS Certification
As of January 2008 registrations for PALS initial and renewal course will be available through the Learning Management System (LMS).

An automated confirmation will be sent to your MultiCare email address upon registration.
You may check out your book and pick up your pre-test from the Wagner Library located in Tacoma General on 3M.

ACLS Online (HeartCode) - self paced option:
MultiCare also offers the ACLS HeartCode Online certification course. This is an interactive, self-paced computer module designed for the completion of the ACLS course. It takes approximately four to six hours to complete, and will bookmark your progress so that you can continue where you left off. Offered at both Tacoma General and Allenmore campus in the Wagner Libraries, you can take it 24-hours a day.
Registration
Contact the ILD Tacoma office at 253-403-1280 to register and be ready to provide the following information:
- Spelling of first and last name
- Employee number
- Position
- Phone number and address
- Preferred start date and time

Important:
MHS will only pay for one ACLS class per certification term (every two years). If you are registered for they instructor led ACLS class through Cascade Training Center, you will need to cancel your registration before signing up for HeartCode. Otherwise, you will be responsible for the $150 cost of HeartCode ACLS.
Also, if you are registered and have logged onto the HeartCode System and decide to attend an instructor led class through Cascade, you will be responsible for paying the HeartCode fee of $150.
