At last, 24-hour emergency care, closer to home

This new freestanding Emergency Department is designed to meet the health care needs of our growing community. Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the new 24,000 square foot Emergency Department will be able to treat your medical emergencies close to your home. The Emergency Department is scheduled to open in spring 2012.

Because the new Emergency Department is part of the MultiCare Health System, it will be linked to MultiCare’s four South Sound hospitals and dozens of clinics by our system-wide electronic health records. That means wherever you’re treated in the MultiCare system, your caregivers will have instant access to your electronic health record, including your health history and such vital information as your allergies or any prescription medications you may be taking.

Here are some of the features you can look forward to in the new Emergency Department:
  • Total of 19 treatment rooms, four of which are specialized for children, with a child-friendly separate waiting area.
  • Advanced imaging services will be located in the Emergency Department, including digital X-ray, CT and ultrasound, which will allow for faster diagnostic procedures.
  • The ambulance bay will be large enough to handle four ambulances at a time.
  • The ambiance of the building will be warm and soothing, with a modern, Northwest theme and plenty of natural light.

Imagine high-quality emergency care and the full resources of MultiCare, right here where they belong—at the MultiCare Covington Emergency Department.

Covington Emergency Department Milestone Reached

Signatures CloseupSignatures from MultiCare employees and City of Covington staff on the final steel support beam become part of MultiCare’s history

The final steel support beam for the new MultiCare Covington Emergency Department was readied for placement at a “topping off” ceremony held Friday, Sept. 16.

Hosted by Sellen Construction, the ceremony included the opportunity for MultiCare employees to sign the specially decorated red, white and blue beam. Covington Mayor Margaret Harto, City Manager Derek Matheson, Councilmember Wayne Snoey and other city staff also attended and signed the beam.

The beam will not be a visible part of the building once construction is complete, but the signatures will forever be part of the MultiCare Covington Emergency Department.
