“I work with the Coalition for Communities, Families and Schools, which means that up to 50 percent of my clients are referred from the school district. While I am specifically designated to work with children, I often end up working with their parents too."
When and why did you choose a career in healthcare?
“Before having a family, I was a teacher. That just didn’t work for me. When I went back to school, I wanted to do something that counts. I worked for Good Samaritan as an intern while I worked on my degree, and found an incredibly good fit!"
Why do you enjoy working at Good Samaritan?
“I agree with the attitude of serving that the Mental Health Services department lives by. The mission statement is: We are dedicated to enriching the lives of our community members and staff by providing quality mental health services, valuing diversity, encouraging professional development and treating all people with respect and equality. That says it all."
How does your work here meet your personal needs and maintain a home/work balance in your life?
“Well, to tell you the truth, when I am passionate about something, I have a very hard time maintaining complete balance. My work is my passion. Luckily for me, my family understands that. One of the most important things that I have learned about this agency is their unconditional support of staff members during times of need. What a great thing to be able to proclaim about your employer!"
Why do you enjoy living in the Seattle-Puyallup area? What recreational activities do you enjoy?
“Having grown up in the area, then raising my family here, there are a couple of special places for me. One is the Puget Sound; the beauty is incredible. Another favorite is the Oregon coast; Cannon Beach in particular. With the gardening I do at home and my involvement with a local church, I keep myself busy."

“Good Samaritan is a place where diversity is valued. We have a great combination of people who value professional development. Management opportunities are available along with encouragement to obtain certification in your chosen field. I just don’t quite know how to put into words what a joy it is to work here."
