Who is my Primary Care Provider, and who do I see if they’re not in clinic?
At East Pierce Family Medicine, we use a Team approach to your care. All of our providers and staff are assigned to a teams, and that team works to give you the best care possible, by people who know you. When your personal physician has duties in the hospital, another partner on the team will care for you. They record your care in MultiCare’s electronic medical record and your personal doctor is informed and will review your visit. With this approach, you can rest assured that you are receiving care from a team of providers and staff that know your health best.
How do I get a refill?
Please call your pharmacy three work days before you are due to run out of medicine. They will call us to obtain the refill. We work with your pharmacy to double check the right medication name and the right dose. We also use your computer record for an additional safety check.
Pain Medication and other controlled substance refills have special rules from the US Drug Enforcement Agency. These controlled substance prescriptions must be printed on special paper for you to pick up at our office. We ask you to call for a refill 3 working days before running out so that we can run safety checks, but not more than one week before. For chronic pain medication, we ask that you follow the rules outlined in your chronic pain agreement.
How do I get advice?
Nurse advice phone: During operating hours, our nurses in the clinic are available to speak with you and address your questions or concerns. Additionally, during non-clinic hours our consulting nurse can be reached by calling the main clinic number: 253-697-1420. The after hours consulting nurses use quality health advice programs to answer your health questions and arrange for follow up care, if needed.
Personal Provider email: Through MyChart, you can use the Ask My Doctor function to send non-urgent health questions. Your personal provider, or their partner, will answer in 24-48 hours.
