Gift Designations
The following funds are available to designate your gift to.
Where the Need Is Greatest
By donating to this fund, you are helping us keep on top of your health care requirements through equipment improvements, medical treatments, clinical programs, and other special necessities at Tacoma General Hospital and Allenmore Hospital. Each year, the Board of Directors reviews the hospitals' greatest needs and allocates these funds.
Breast Health/Breast Cancer Outreach
We don't want women to wait to save up money for biopsies, qualify for health insurance, or apply for state aid. They can't afford to wait. With your help we can overcome some of the financial obstacles these women face and get them the immediate access to screening and medical care they need.
Cancer Programs
Your gift will help support educational opportunities for the care providers so they can continue to learn the latest techniques to help cancer patients live a better quality of life. Please know that your gifts to cancer programs at Tacoma General Hospital and Allenmore Hospital help health care providers to offer resources and special care to cancer patients. Visit the MultiCare Regional Cancer Center to find out more about our cancer care.
Cardiology/Cardiac Rehabilitation
Tacoma General Hospital and Allenmore Hospital have an award winning, life-saving cardiac program. Your support will help bolster program enhancements, provide for unexpected capital equipment needs, and fund patient education and community outreach programs. Visit the MultiCare Regional Heart & Vascular Center to find out more about our cardiac programs.
Helping Hands Fund
This fund has been providing needed assistance for years to those who are inadequately insured or just down on their luck. Sometimes it's cab fare for an elderly woman to get home after a midnight visit to the Emergency Department. Other times, it's a much needed, costly prescription for a patient who has to make the choice between medications or rent.
MultiCare Hospice and Palliative Care Services
When the end of life nears, patients are able to spend their final days at home, free from pain, among family and friends. MultiCare Hospice relies on its specially trained community volunteers in order to reach those at the end of their journey. Your support helps fund the training and supplies needed for those community volunteers supporting our Hospice staff and programs. Visit MultiCare Hospice and Palliative Care Services to learn more.
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
One in nine babies is born too sick or too small to go home. We are committed to providing the finest medical expertise and technology to help improve outcomes and reduce lifelong complications for our smallest patients. Your support is needed so we may continue to provide the highest standard of neonatal care. Visit the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit to learn more.
Family Housing for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
When a critically ill infant is treated at Tacoma General Hospital's NICU, the last thing a parent will want to do is leave their baby's bedside. Family Housing provides a private space for families to take care of their very basic needs—like sleeping, showering, eating, calling relatives—yet they are only minutes away from their child's side.
Nursing Education
Your gifts help provide the necessary funding for continuing education and training scholarships to assure quality patient care through nursing excellence. Specific nursing education funds exist for Critical Care, Neurosciences, Oncology, and Case Management.
Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Educational Endowment
This fund, established by graduates of Tacoma General Hospital School of Nursing, provides continuing education for nurses so that they may be able to meet the ever-changing challenges of their profession.
