Group Therapy
Group therapy is an effective tool used in many ways by Good Samaritan Behavioral Healthcare to help individuals reduce or alleviate emotional suffering and to make behavioral changes. Effective group therapy requires a commitment of each member to respect and maintain the safety and confidentiality of every other group member. Groups are designed to encourage effective communication skills, healthy social skills, education, problem-solving, and healthy self-management.
Groups are offered at various times based on clients’ needs and address a variety of issues, including education about mental health issues, healing, self-control, progressive rehabilitation to increase an individual’s functioning, and ongoing support.
Group therapy is available for adults, older adults, teens and pre-teens. Groups generally range in size from six to twelve people and offer a supportive setting with other people who have similar concerns and are experiencing similar problems. Groups are led by a clinical therapist and usually meet once a week for a period of six to twelve weeks.
