Robotics-Assisted Surgery

MultiCare was the first health system in the South Sound to offer robotically-assisted surgical procedures, starting in June 2005. The da Vinci® Surgical System allows surgeons to operate with greater precision and control through incisions only 1-2 centimeters in size. Benefits for patients include less pain, bleeding and scarring; fewer complications, shorter hospital stay and a faster return to normal daily activities.

Laparoscopic procedures allow doctors to enter through smaller incisions using tiny cameras to perform the procedure. MultiCare surgeons are leaders in the South Sound region in laparoscopic hysterectomies.
