Will You Be Healthy Enough to Enjoy Your Retirement?To live your retirement years to the fullest you not only need a solid financial plan – you need a good health plan as well.
MultiCare Center for Healthy Living, in partnership with Joe Piscatella and the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties, is pleased to present “Make Your Health Last As Long As Your Life.” This program is designed to help improve the health and wellness of those 55 and better with a focus on education, awareness, empowering and equipping individual to make healthy life style choices in the areas of nutrition, physical activity, and stress.
In this program, Joe will examine the lifestyle habits found in societies all over the world where people not only live longer, but also have extended years of good health. Fitness and nutrition staff from the YMCA and MultiCare will share their expertise on nutrition, healthy cooking and fitness and exercise.
The program runs Tuesday, April 27- Tuesday, June 29 at the Puyallup Activity Center and costs $20. Learn what you can do now to maximize your “health span” and increase the number of years you will have good health.

Let Joe Piscatella and Beverly Utt, MultiCare Registered Dietitian, help you navigate through this super sized, highly-processed world of food, and learn to stock your own healthy kitchen pantry.
May 18 ~ Move It or Lose It
Representatives from the YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties and Joe Piscatella and will show you how to incorporate exercise into your daily life.
June 1 ~ Take a Load Off Your Heart
Joe Piscatella will discuss the impact of stress on cardiovascular health.
June 15 ~ Healthy Cooking at Home
Joe Piscatella and Beverly Utt, MultiCare Registered Dietitian will demo healthy dishes with helpful tips to increase the taste & health of your home-cooked meals.
June 29 Enjoying Your Retirement
Joe Piscatella will talk about ways to keep and stay motivated for a healthy retirement. *There will be free health screenings before and after the program.
Bio
Joe Piscatella
Joe Piscatella knows the science of healthy living. More importantly, he understands the practical application of that science. His experience of undergoing coronary bypass surgery at age 32, and subsequently managing heart disease successfully for 32 years, gives him a practical perspective that audiences appreciate. He is one of the longest-lived survivors of cardiac bypass in the country. He is the president of the Institute for Fitness and Health. He is also the author of eleven best-selling books including Don't Eat Your Heart Out, Take A Load Off Your Heart and The Road to A Healthy Heart Runs Through the Kitchen. His newest book is Positive Mind, Healthy Heart.
Bev Utt, MS, MPH, RD
As a food writer, educator and speaker, she has been a guest on numerous television segments, talk radio and media dinners. She has addressed the International Association of Culinary Professionals on Nutrition Solutions for the Culinary Industry. She has contributed to several books including: Martha Stewart’s Quick & Healthy Cookbook, and several of Joe Piscatella’s books including The Road To A Healthy Heart Runs Through The Kitchen, and The Healthy Heart Cookbook. She has written for Restaurant Hospitality, Appellation, Cooking Light and Martha Stewart Living, where she served as Martha’s sole consulting nutritionist for thirteen years.
