Hospice Services

The hospice team develops a care plan that focuses on the patient's well-being and the need for pain management and symptom control. The plan outlines the medical and support services required such as nursing care, personal care (dressing, bathing, etc.), social services, physician visits, counseling, and homemaker services. It also identifies the medical equipment, tests, procedures, medication and treatments necessary to provide high-quality comfort care.

Our Services Include:


  • Case management and coordination with attending physician
  • Skilled nursing care with expert pain and symptom management
  • Inpatient acute care for symptom management related to hospice diagnosis
  • Medical equipment, supplies and medications
  • Home health aides and homemakers to assist with personal care, such as bathing and light homemaking services
  • Respite care
  • Medical social services
  • Palliative care services through MultiCare Hospice and Palliative Care Services
  • Skilled symptom and pain management
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy as appropriate to enable patients to stay as active as they can through their illness and to train caregivers in assisting them
  • Support services provided by trained volunteers that may include staying with the patient when the family needs a short break (usually two to four hours), companionship or errands
  • Comfort therapies offered by professional practitioners including massage, music, reiki (light, comfort touch), aromatherapy and pet therapy
  • Emotional and spiritual support for patients, their families and caregivers.

Grief and Loss Services

Grief and loss services offer support to people dealing with the death of a loved one. These services are available at no charge to survivors of Hospice patients and to the community at large.

Grief and loss services include:


  • Information and assistance
  • Limited telephone assistance for immediate needs and support
  • Referrals to community agencies
  • Support groups
  • Holiday bereavement support

24-hour-a-day Assistance
On-call nurses are available after hours and can be contacted using our paging system. Examples of when to call the nurse include: a change in condition, or with urgent questions or concerns; poor pain control, symptoms uncontrolled with current medications; skin breakdown; if a fall should occur; and when death occurs.
