Kids Get Fit & Healthy Dining Program
Between soccer practice, ballet lessons and homework time, more and more families are relying on restaurants to provide quick meals for the entire family. How can parents ensure that their children are receiving healthy dining options? The Kids Get Fit & Healthy Dining program offers parents a reliable way to provide healthy alternatives for their children.Join the Pierce County Council in partnership with the Washington Restaurant Association, MultiCare Center for Healthy Living, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital and Pierce County Gets Fit and Healthy members in launching the Kids Get Fit & Healthy Dining program. Over 25 Pierce County restaurants will be offering Kids Get Fit meals for one year starting in September 2008.
What is a Kids Get Fit meal?
- No more than 650 calories
- Less than 30-35 percent of total calories from fat
- Less than 10 percent of total calories from saturated fat
- Two servings of fruit and/or vegetables
- One serving of dairy or calcium-rich dairy alternative
What is the benefit of participating in the Kids Get Fit & Healthy Diningprogram?
You will not only know that the dish you have selected is a healthy choice, but you can also win prizes!
When you dine at a restaurant participating in the Kids Get Fit & Healthy Dining program, your child will receive a kid-friendly placemat featuring the Kids Get Fit menu options in addition to fun games and activities for the whole family. Your child will receive a SPECIAL PRIZE for each purchase of a Kids Get Fit meal.
