Highlighted Volunteer Opportunities
New Opportunities:
Patient and Family Partnership Councils - Volunteers are needed one evening per month to share their expertse regarding hospital processes and procedures. Council members get to provide feedback to staff to continue our mission of Quality Patient Care.

Surgery Waiting Room – Volunteers are needed Tuesday and Wednesday mornings as well as Tuesday afternoons to assist family members at Tacoma General and Mary Bridge waiting for a family member in surgery. Good people skills and minimal computer skills are a must.

BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children – Training is about to begin and volunteers are needed to help with child and family groups where individuals have experienced a loss or long term illness in their lives. Volunteers are needed at least two evenings per month to lead small groups.

Opportunities Now Available:
Allenmore Hospital Coffee Stand and Gift Shop - Volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 4-8pm to help sell items, talk to customers and make coffee.

Comfort Rounds at Tacoma General – Volunteers are needed from 9am-1pm and 1pm-4pm on various units at Tacoma General to visit patients, provide resources and comfort items. Many times all patients and families need is a smiling face and someone to talk to.

Emergency Rooms at Tacoma General and Mary Bridge – Volunteers are needed Saturday through Sunday from 9am-1am to escort patients, assist with supplies, visit and check in with patients and assist with discharge. Medical school students are a great fit for this opportunity whether you are hoping to go on to medical school or get certified as a technician. Some hospital experience such as previous volunteer work or job shadowing is preferred.
