(TACOMA)--Area consumers have once again selected Tacoma General Hospital as the hospital they would choose for their health care. That’s the finding of National Research Corporation (NRC), which has honored Tacoma General with the 2008/09 Consumer Choice award.

Tacoma General Hospital first received the distinction in 1996 and has won it 11 times since then.

The National Research Corporation Consumer Choice Award reflects the views of over 200,000 households across the nation and is published in Modern Healthcare. Out of 3,200 hospitals nationwide, Tacoma General is one of only 226 hospitals to make the list.

Based on the views of consumers, Tacoma General is a highly preferred health care provider for the Tacoma/Pierce County region. This award also indicates that Tacoma General has achieved a level of service that is valued by consumers in the community. It asked specific questions about which hospital has the best doctors, nurses, personalized care, community health programs and reputation.

MultiCare is also listed nationally in the Top 100 Integrated Health Networks by Verispan, Inc. and has earned this distinction more than any other health system in Washington State. MultiCare has received several prestigious awards in recent years for the treatment of chest pains and stroke, significantly reducing the time of treatment.
