Olympic gold medalist, 'Dancing With The Stars' champion to speak Feb. 6 at Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center
You saw her beaming in Beijing as she won Olympic gold. You saw her waltz away with the mirror ball trophy on ABC’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Now you can see world champion gymnast Shawn Johnson shine in person as the featured speaker at MultiCare Health System’s “Do Something Healthy” event Feb. 6 in Tacoma.
RSVP today: http://multica.re/1cwP7f0 or call 1-800-485-0205.
This celebration of good health, now in its 14th year, is hosted by the MultiCare Center for Healthy Living. Johnson will be on hand to help inspire girls and their families to focus on health and wellness — and to go for the gold in their own lives.
“We asked Shawn to speak because she is an inspiration for young girls to be active, to work hard but also to have fun as they follow their dreams,” says Trixy Dorn, Community Events and Program Coordinator with the Center for Healthy Living.
Johnson was the 2008 Olympic gold medalist on the balance beam and silver medalist in the all-around, floor exercise, and team competition. Johnson won ABC's "Dancing With the Stars" in 2008, and finished second in the all-star edition of the show in 2012, paired with Derek Hough, who was last year's special guest at MultiCare's "Do Something Healthy" celebration. For any girl who hears “You can’t do it,” Johnson’s advice is to set your sights high, to never give up and to spend time with people who do support your goals.
“This is a really fun family event, and we’ve sold out the last three years,” Dorn said.
