  • Electronic health records cut paper - on Earth Day and every day

If you're a MultiCare patient, your electronic health record eliminates the need for paper records — on Earth Day and every day.

"When it comes to our electronic health record, MultiCare rocks. We've been doing this for a long time, and we're good at it," said Eric Herman, MD, MultiCare's Medical Director of Population Health Management who studied electronic engineering before he became a doctor.

What's in your health record? Find out with MyChart.

For more than 15 years, Tacoma-based MultiCare has been a national leader when it comes to electronic health records. In fact, MultiCare is one of the few health systems in the nation to have a complete electronic health record system, called MultiCare Connect, which was implemented in 1998.

Your MultiCare health care providers have your entire health history — medications, allergies, physician visits and more — at their fingertips. It's a smarter, safer, more efficient way to provide care.

"If you go through a patient's journey to health and well-being, you can see evidence how that record has made care fast, easy and more patient-centered," Dr. Herman said.

Whatever MultiCare facility you visit, your providers will all be looking at the same complete, up-to-date health record. For example, medications can be reviewed before a patient arrives at the doctor's office. Or if patients need a refill of medication, they can get on their phone and make a refill request.

"It's being able to really expand where care is delivered, so that the patient feels they have that umbrella everywhere they go," Dr. Herman said.
