Are your dance moves good enough to impress Derek Hough from “Dancing with the Stars”?
For the chance to show off, local teens are invited to compete in a dance contest hosted by the MultiCare Center for Healthy Living. The competition, open to teens between 14 and 18 in groups of three to eight people, will be judged by a panel that includes professional dancer Derek Hough, who is a three-time champion on the ABC TV series.
To enter, make a one-minute video of your performance. Post the audition clip to YouTube. Then send the video link to Trixy Dorn at firstname.lastname@example.org. The deadline is Friday, Jan. 18.
All dance styles and skill levels are welcome. Groups will be judged on their use of clothing and accessories, innovative dance styles and overall creativity. The top three groups will go compete on Wednesday, Feb. 6 at the Center for Healthy Living's 13th annual "Do Something Healthy" event.
The contest is part of MultiCare’s annual “Do Something Healthy” celebration, a community conversation about the benefits of physical activity and healthy eating. At this year’s event, Hough will share his tips for staying healthy through dance and talk about the “Derek Diet.”
The 13th Annual “Do Something Healthy” event starts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center. Pre-registration is required. Tickets are $10 for adults. Children 12 and younger are free.
