  • 2013 Festival of Trees lights up Tacoma; public days this weekend

    The 27th annual Festival of Trees began Tuesday with Designer Day and runs through Sunday, Dec. 8 in Tacoma. Since 1987, the festival has raised more than $21 million to support young patients at MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center.

    Here's the full schedule of this week's events:

    MULTICARE EMPLOYEES NIGHT

    When: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 4-9 p.m.

    Where: Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center, 1500 Broadway, Tacoma.

    Cost: Free for MultiCare employees and volunteers and their families. Employee/volunteer badge required for entry.

    What: All MultiCare employees and volunteers are invited to enjoy the festive lights and holiday cheer at Festival of Trees on Wednesday, December 4th, from 4pm until 9pm. Bring your family and join us for cookies, punch, entertainment, and the presentation of the 2013 Loretta Clubb Award.

    Sound Transit Tacoma Link light rail stops near the Convention Center. Festival visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the free rides available on this train. Additionally the MultiCare Shuttle will, for this one night only, make a stop at the Convention Center upon request. The number to dial for this shuttle is 253-223-2907.

    LADIES NIGHT OUT IN TACOMA

      When: Thursday, Dec. 5, 6-9 p.m.

      Where: Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center, 1500 Broadway, Tacoma.

      Cost: $75

      What: A Festival of Trees event to benefit Mary Bridge Children's Hospital & Health Center.

      Cost: General admission: $6, students (13 to 18 years) $2, children (12 and under): free

      What: Enjoy the splendor and magic of 60 elaborately decorated evergreen trees and beautiful holiday decor with your family and friends. Play games in the lobby, take a craft home to share with someone special, have your picture taken with Santa and find unique treasures in the Mary Bridge Brigade Gift Shop. Festival brings out the holidays spirit in us all with fun activities for the whole family.
