Mary Bridge named among top pediatric hospitals in the country
MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center has been named one of the country’s Top Hospitals by the Leapfrog Group for providing the safest and highest quality care to pediatric patients. Mary Bridge is the only pediatric hospital in the Pacific Northwest and one of only 12 children’s hospitals in the country to receive this recognition.
The award, announced today at Leapfrog’s Annual Meeting, honors hospitals that focus on keeping patients safe.
“Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital is committed to providing the kids in our community with high quality care, and we focus each day on doing the best for our patients,” said Mady Murrey, RN, Chief Operating Officer of Mary Bridge. “This award honors the hard work of our doctors, nurses and health care providers who are dedicated to our young patients and work diligently to make sure they get great care when they are staying with us.”
Tacoma-based Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, with clinics in nine communities in the South Sound, was selected as a Top Hospital out of nearly 1,200 hospitals participating in The Leapfrog Group’s annual survey. This national, public comparison of hospitals focuses on key issues including mortality rates, infection rates, safety practices, and measures of efficiency.
Founded in 1955, Mary Bridge Children’s is the only pediatric hospital in southwest Washington dedicated to caring for children. Designated by the state as the Level II Pediatric Trauma Center for the region, Mary Bridge offers comprehensive resources and expertise for critically ill or injured children.
“The Leapfrog Top Hospital distinction is by far the most competitive award a hospital can receive. Leapfrog holds hospitals to the highest standards on behalf of our purchaser members and their employees. By achieving the Top Hospital accolade, Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital has demonstrated exemplary performance across all areas of quality and patient safety that are analyzed on the Leapfrog Hospital Survey. This hospital stands out as one consistently providing safe, high quality care, and I would be comfortable sending my family to Mary Bridge for care,” said Leah Binder, President & CEO of The Leapfrog Group.
About The Leapfrog Group: The Hospital Safety Score is an initiative of The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization using the collective leverage of large purchasers of health care to initiate improvements in the safety, quality and affordability of health care for Americans.
