MultiCare Chaplain Gives Opening Prayer at Legislature
Tiji McClendon, a chaplain at MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and in the National Guard, had the privilege of giving the opening prayer for the Washington state Legislature on Feb. 3.
This was part of the National Guard's annual “Military Day at the Legislature.” An Air Guard Chaplain and an Army Guard Chaplain is selected to do the prayer for both the House and the Senate. McClendon was selected by her supervisor from the 194th Regional Support Wing to give the prayer for the House of Representatives.
Also on Friday, there was a luncheon at the Capitol to honor “Unsung Heroes,” for Chaplains, Medical Staff and Mental Health Professionals in the Guard. McClendon was one of the honorees awarded with a certificate and coin, presented by Gov. Chris Gregoire.
McClendon has been with MultiCare for the past year and with the Air National Guard for seven years.Posted on Feb 8, 2012 in Tacoma
