  • MultiCare GI labs recognized for promoting quality

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), a leading gastrointestinal medical society, has recognized MultiCare Health System’s gastrointestinal labs as part of its program specifically dedicated to promoting quality in endoscopy. MultiCare Health System is one of 400 endoscopy units to be granted the recognition.

Recognized locations include MultiCare Covington Medical Park, MultiCare Gig Harbor Medical Park, MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital, MultiCare Allenmore Hospital, MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, and MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital.

“Recognition by the ASGE for all of our MultiCare GI labs means that MultiCare is committed to and recognized as having met the highest standards of endoscopy safety and clinical quality,” said Paul Catterson, RN, nurse manager of interventional endoscopy for MultiCare Health System. “At each of our locations, we ensure that our scopes are processed using proven methods, and that our staff is well trained to handle any eventuality. Our physicians provide compassionate care based on ASGE guidelines and recommendation. For our patients this means that they can count on safe procedures, using state-of-the-art equipment, operated by a team of nurses and doctors who are committed to safety and quality.”

ASGE is known as the profession’s leader in setting standards for excellence in endoscopy. The ASGE Recognition Program endorses those programs that comply with their intensive and quality-driven standards of care.

“This achievement showcases our innovative work and highlights our commitment to quality patient care,” said Kathy Smith, senior vice president of clinical operations for MultiCare Health System. “I am proud of the care we provide every day to our patients, and our collaboration to help advance the future of endoscopy. Thanks to our employees for their hard work and helping us achieve this recognition.”
