MultiCare projects named among Pierce County's Excellent 10
Economic Development Board of Tacoma-Pierce County recognized Good Samaritan and the new Tacoma Emergency Departments as significant economic development projects in 2009
The Economic Development Board of Tacoma-Pierce County has named the recipients of its annual “Excellent 10” awards. These awards recognize ten significant economic development projects that commenced or were completed during the previous calendar year in Tacoma-Pierce County. MultiCare's expansion projects in Puyallup and Tacoma were among those celebrated.
MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital was recognized for its $400 million medical campus expansion and upgrade. The hospital currently employs 2,300 staff members and plans to expand staff and services after the new Patient Care Tower comes online in February 2011.
The EDB also highlighted the new Emergency Departments for MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital and Mary Bridge Children's Hospital. The $74 million project increases the size of the EDs to deliver a better experience for the patient. That means more patient treatment rooms, bigger rooms to accommodate families and health care providers and new technology right at the bedside. The Departments open to the public on April 15.
