Tacoma General Receives Primary Stroke Center Certification
MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital has earned the Gold Seal of Approval from the Joint Commission for Advanced Certification as a Primary Stroke Center. Tacoma General earned this distinction after the Joint Commission conducted an on-site review in October 2009.
The certification is effective Oct. 30, 2009, and it continues for the next 24 months.
"Tacoma General Hospital demonstrated that its stroke care program follows national standards and guidelines that can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients," said Jean E. Range, RN, CPHQ, Executive Director, Disease-Specific Care Certification, Joint Commission.
"We’re proud to achieve the distinction. We are one of only 16 hospitals in Washington state that have obtained the certification," said Karen Kiesz, RN, CNRN, Stroke Program Coordinator at Tacoma General.
"Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center Certification recognizes Tacoma General Hospital’s commitment to providing outstanding care to our patients and our community."
