  • Video: PLU students go bald for Mary Bridge

Thank you to Pacific Lutheran University students who shaved their heads to raise money for MultiCare Mary Bridge Children's Hospital.

The "Save it or Shave it?" fundraiser raised more than $4,200 for the hospital's fund to provide care for children in need. Students in the Progress Club carried around two jars: one labeled "Save it" and the other "Shave It." The fate of the student's hair was decided by the jar that held the most money at the end of the week.

“It’s going to be a big change to go from this amount of hair to none at all,” said Claire Smith, a PLU junior who shaved her long dreadlocks for the sake of the fundraiser. “I think the thing that’s really good is that this fundraiser doesn’t let people forget about it. … People donate and they will see me and my bald head for the rest of the semester and next year on campus, and it will just be a reminder of children that need health care and this wonderful cause that we’re working to support.”
