• Mary Bridge named among top pediatric hospitals in the country

  MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital & Health Center has been named one of the country’s Top Hospitals by the Leapfrog Group for providing the safest and highest quality care to pediatric patients. Mary Bridge is the only pediatric hospital in the Pacific Northwest and one of only 12 children’s hospitals in the country to receive this recognition.

• MultiCare presents 30th Christmas Rush Fun Run in Kent on Dec. 8

• MultiCare employees greet new co-workers at Auburn Medical Center

  Diane Cecchettini, RN, President and CEO of MultiCare Health System, walked the halls of MultiCare Auburn Medical Center on Monday morning welcoming the employees to the Tacoma-based health system. “It’s an exciting day for all of us,” Cecchettini said as she shook hands with the staff in the Auburn Intensive Care Unit. “We are going to do good work together.”

  The new MultiCare Maple Valley Clinic opened to patients Sept. 10, but residents got an early sneak peek of the modern health care center during a ribbon-cutting celebration that included community officials, MultiCare leaders, clinic employees, and members of the Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce.

• MultiCare to purchase Auburn Regional Medical Center

  MultiCare Health System, a not-for-profit health system, has announced plans to purchase the hospital and clinic assets of Auburn Regional Medical Center from Universal Health Services Inc. The sale is subject to regulatory review, which is expected to take place by late summer.

  Dr. Craig DeSelms, a longtime MultiCare Health System physician, died Wednesday after living many years with prostate cancer. Dr. DeSelms provided care to patients at the MultiCare Maple Valley Clinic.

• Construction of Covington Emergency Department nears completion

  The construction site for the new Emergency Department at MultiCare Covington Medical Center still is covered with dust and crawling with construction workers. But the building will be finished in about a month and open to the public in early April.
