Celebrate Child Passenger Safety Week with a free car seat check
When you look around inside your car, do you see children? If so, join us from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, for free car seat inspections in the parking lot of Babies "R" Us near the Tacoma Mall. The safety checks are led by the Mary Bridge Center for Childhood Safety in partnership with Safe Kids Pierce County.

Fannie's dream, 130 years later
In 1880, Fannie C. Paddock of Brooklyn, New York, was making ready to move to faraway Tacoma, Washington. Her husband, John Adams Paddock, was set to become the new Bishop of the Protestant Episcopal Church of Washington Territory. In addition to preparing their household for the long journey west, Fannie also took on another important task: raising funds to build Tacoma’s first hospital.
