Northwest Community Clinical Oncology Program
MultiCare Health System has been the coordinating institution for the Northwest Community Clinical Oncology Program (CCOP). The NWCCOP is funded through a grant from the National Cancer Institute, first awarded in 1983. The CCOP grants are meant to bring federally funded cancer research trials into the community setting. Prior to the CCOP’s, the majority of research was conducted in academic medical centers.
The NWCCOP is now in its 27th year of grant funding and is one of the more successful CCOP programs in the United States. The NWCCOP is made up of a consortium of institutions from King County, SW Washington, Portland Oregon and Boise Idaho. In 2010 we were excited to add the Overlake Oncology Program and the Providence Everett Oncology Program to the NWCCOP.
Most all of the oncologists in Pierce County participate in the CCOP program. Institutions and oncology practices participating in the CCOP program include:
