Patient & Family Centered Care ProgramsPatient & Family Centered Care Programs at MultiCare Health System
At MultiCare, patients and families have an important role in guiding our work as health care providers. Families play a primary role in the health and well-being of their loved ones, by working hand-in-hand with physicians, nurses and staff to care for your loved ones health care needs.
The following list reflects the many ways that patient and family members can be involved in Patient & Family Centered Care Programs at MultiCare Health System. Prior to your participation, you will be provided orientation to our volunteer process. No prior experience is necessary. Together we will identify where your experiences can make the biggest difference.
Family Partner Council Member: Members partner with other patients, family and staff to share their perspectives and experiences to drive decisions about programs and policies within MHS. There are multiple councils throughout the system. We link patients/families with a council that fits with their experience and interest.
Family Faculty: Individuals provide presentations through stories about their lives both inside and outside the hospital. They share strategies for collaboration and teach Patient & Family Centered Care principles through real life experiences from a patient & family perspective. Examples of this include speaking at new employee orientation, various hospital departments and other community venues.
Family Partner Committee Member: Individuals are linked with a hospital committee that fits with their experience and interest. The work is variable and might include development of a new program, policy or process. It involves working closely with various clinical and/or non-clinical members of the MHS community by bringing the patient and family perspective to the committee.
Family Partner Inpatient Volunteer: The Family Partner Volunteer will nurture, support and serve the patients and families on inpatient nursing units. This position assists in Family Resource Centers, hosts coffee/comfort cart and provides family rounding to patient bedside.
Family Partner Experience Group: Individuals would participant in a one time meeting providing feedback, suggestions or solutions on a particular topic. Examples include facility design and customer service.
