Our Programs
Because of you, MultiCare Health Foundation programs help patients and families in many meaningful ways. If you would like to have more information on any of the following programs please contact us—we would love to hear from you.
Where the Need Is Greatest is a special fund administered by our MultiCare Health Foundation Board of Directors to meet specific needs not otherwise designated.
The Emergency Services Campaign supports the
critical need to expand and enhance the emergency departments of Tacoma General and Mary Bridge Children’s Hospitals. The campaign is supported by MultiCare employees, boards of directors, physicians, and the community. Areas in the new facility may be named in honor or in memory of a loved one (please contact Cindy Niemi at 253-403-1671 or email cindy.niemi@multicare.org for details).
The Helping Hands Fund helps patients who are uninsured or need a helping hand. Your small gift can make all the difference! With your help, we provide a voucher for a prescription medication, a hot meal for the patient’s family, or even cab fare home if a patient needs it.
The Family Birth Center is the place where a new life is welcomed into loving arms. Because of you, we can provide expectant mothers who are hospitalized with a few extras, like fragrant shampoos or soaps, to help them feel feminine as they wait out their pregnancy. Baby clothing and blankets are also offered to those who need them.
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)—Tiny newborns, who arrive early or are critically ill may require weeks, or even months, of specialized intensive care. Because of you, we purchase much-needed equipment, creating a perfect environment designed just for our tiniest patients.
Family Housing—If a baby is born too soon or too sick to go home right away, a temporary home for the family is essential. Many families come from as far as two hours away or more. Because of you, families will have a comfortable place to stay when their children are hospitalized.
Because of you, Women’s Programs offer free mammograms and breast health screenings. Helpful information is made available to every woman, regardless of circumstance, ability to pay, or health care coverage. The high cost of specialized garments for patients with lymphedema is supplemented through this fund.
Our Heart Centers reach out to communities all over western Washington. Because of you, caregivers receive the latest in continuing education, and state-of-the-art cardio equipment is purchased.
Caregiver Education—Health care professionals link science with compassion day-after-day—saving lives and comforting patients in the most trying of circumstances. Through continuing education credits, caregivers bring back specific knowledge to share with their peers. Because of you, financial help is provided for travel related expenses and registration fees for health care conferences and training.
Adult Day Health Center programs help people regain their independence. Because of you, people who would otherwise be isolated are offered supervised activities and companionship, while their caregivers receive peace of mind and support on a daily basis.
Our Neurosciences Center of Washington helps patients who have sleep, balance, hearing, and other brain dysfunctions or disorders. Because of you, we bring new hope to stroke victims in our special programs, and educate neuroscience nurses in the latest medical advances.
Katterhagen Cancer Resource Center is a special place for cancer patients and families to receive information and support. Nurse Navigators work in concert with patients and physicians connecting families with ongoing financial and social support, counselors, medically reviewed websites, information about complementary therapies, and other resources.
Hospice and Palliative Care Program caregivers are on-call 24-hours-a-day. Our teams are made up of physicians, nurses, home health aides, social workers, bereavement counselors, clergy, therapists (massage, physical, and occupational, if needed), and trained volunteers. Because of you, Hospice and Palliative Care programs help meet the needs of our loved ones with dignity and compassion.
With Empty Arms—When the joy of expecting a child is followed by a tragic loss, families are overcome with tremendous grief. Because of you, our caregivers receive the specialized training they need to comfort families after pregnancy loss or infant death.
