WHERE ARE THE 12K RUNNING WAVES?

We’re moving to a “release and hold” system. Runners will line up behind their appropriate per-mile pace sign, held overhead in the assembly area. Runners will then be released in groups of 500 to 1000 participants every 30 to 90 seconds to allow the field to spread out and to minimize congestion along the route.

Start and Finish

All events start and finish in Vassault Park, at the intersection of North Vassault and North 37th Streets in Tacoma.

Directions to Vassault Park

From I-5 take Highway 16 West to Exit 3. Follow the signs to Ruston to get to North 37th and Pearl Streets.

Parking

Parking will be available at both Truman Middle School (5801 N. 35th, Tacoma, just across Pearl Street near Vassault Playfield) and Pt. Defiance Elementary (4330 N. Visscher St., Tacoma - Enter on Pearl and N. 46th ). Proceeds benefit Wilson Rams Girls Basketball, Truman Middle School Music Boosters and Pt. Defiance Elementary ASB.

Express Bus Service

Pierce Transit WILL NOT be able to provide service from the TCC Transit Center to the race. Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause. Please carpool!

 

Clothes Check

Free clothes check will be offered at the Vassault Park tennis courts the day of the event for participants with an official bib number. Please allow time for check-in process prior to the start of your event.

Weather

Race day starting time temperatures in recent years have been in the 60s (F) and have ranged from a high in the 80s to a low in the 50s. Prepare for a variety of weather conditions, and use the free clothes check to store extra clothing during the race.

Strollers, Baby Joggers and Pets

Due to safety and insurance concerns, wheeled devices, such as strollers, in-line skates or bicycles will not be permitted in the 12k run. Strollers and baby joggers are welcome on the 5k course and the 12k walk, or the 2k Junior Shuffle course. For those walking the 12k, participants exceeding one hour for the first three miles will be required to use a shortcut...shortening the distance to five miles. Pets are not allowed on any of the event courses.

Food, Drink, and More

Complimentary fruit and drink will be available to registered participants after they finish, and a number of vendors will offer samples, products, and services for the entire family.

Medical Information

At the finish line, there will be a Sports Medicine tent. Look for the MultiCare Orthopedics & Sports Medicine sign.
