RADIANCE Treatment
RADIANCE® is a new long-lasting, injected product that can be used to treat smile lines, make lips fuller or improve facial contouring. This soft tissue filler is made of calcium hydroxyapatite, which is a normal constituent of bone.
Is RADIANCE® for You?
RADIANCE® is the ideal treatment for:
- Lines between the nose and mouth, between eyebrows and on the upper lip
- The so-called “smile lines” and “frown lines”
- Depressions and blemishes such as acne scars
- Thinning lips
- Shallow cheeks
About the Procedure
The procedure takes about 15 minutes to perform. RADIANCE® is injected using a small thin needle. Sometimes a local anesthetic may be used. Because RADIANCE® is a semi-permanent procedure, injections usually are performed in a two-step process over a two-week period.
As RADIANCE® is gently injected, it builds up the tissues of the face, reducing folds and creases and restoring fullness. It does not paralyze or act on the face's muscles. Enhancement with RADIANCE® is relatively painless, and any minor swelling from the injection typically disappears within 24 hours. You can comfortably return to normal activities after your treatment. Best of all, you'll see results immediately and can expect to enjoy them for three or more years.
Following Your Treatment
As with any injection, there may be temporary redness, tenderness, swelling and/or bruising in the treated area. There may be some lumpiness after the initial injection, which can be corrected with subsequent treatments. There are no known allergies to RADIANCE®.
Following treatment, take the following precautions:
- Avoid touching or excessive movement of the treated area for a few days.
- Until the initial swelling and redness have resolved, do not expose the treated area to intense heat (e.g. steam rooms, jacuzzis, or sunbathing) or extreme cold.
- If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that the needle punctures could contribute to another eruption of cold sores.
- If you are using aspirin or any similar medication, be aware that these may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
Depending on the results desired, initial treatment usually is maintained with regular follow-up treatments. Many factors affect how long the product lasts, such as age, skin type, lifestyle and muscle activity. Follow-up treatments normally require a smaller amount of the product. Most patients choose to have a follow-up treatment two to five years after the initial treatment.
About RADIANCE®
RADIANCE® is a pure, synthetic compound with a record of safety that extends more than 25 years. It is comprised of microspheres of calcium hydroxylapatite, combined with an aqueous gel. The key element of RADIANCE® is identical to the chemical structure of calcium naturally present in the human body. When injected, the cream-like texture of RADIANCE® feels soft and natural. RADIANCE® provides years of rejuvenation. It is gradually replaced by the body's own tissue, and dissolves away in approximately seven years.
