Tobacco Cessation
Three Steps To Recovery
1. Call the Washington State Quit Line.
For phone counseling and support, quit plans, tips and tools. Medicaid provides FREE cessation medications, nicotine products and counseling through the Quit Line when asked. Call: 800-QUIT-NOW (800-784-8669), Spanish: 877-NO-FUME, TTY: 877-777-6534 or www.quitline.com.
2. Sign up for a QuitSmart™ class.
This six-hour class helps you break old habits and start healthy new ones by building a foundation for your tobacco-free life. It’s fun and it works. Low-cost fee, $25. Offered year-round. For more information and registration call 800-485-0205. QuitSmart Class Schedule
3. Consider using medication or nicotine products.
There are many over-the-counter products and prescription medications that help reduce cravings for tobacco products, ie; cigarettes, chew, cigars, pipes, or bidis. Talk with your doctor, pharmacist or our Tobacco Cessation Coordinator about your choices.
Quitting tobacco is easier with support. It takes about eight to eleven tries to quit for life. Remember to keep trying and you will get there.
