Treatments
There are a number of different treatments available for pelvic floor disorders. The providers at MultiCare Women’s Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery will work with you to determine the best treatment for your health care needs.
Conditions can be
treated non-surgically, in some cases. But if a patient does require
surgery, she can have confidence in the expertise of the surgeons at
MultiCare Women’s Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery. Many of
the procedures we perform can be done using minimally invasive
techniques, which means smaller incisions, less bleeding and scarring,
and faster recovery times.
The surgical procedures performed at MultiCare Women’s Pelvic Medicine & Reconstructive Surgery include:
- Minimally invasive uterine-sparing surgeries for prolapse and incontinence (such as laparoscopic sacrohysteropexy, laparoscopic uterosacral uterine suspension, laparoscopic paravaginal repair and laparoscopic colposuspension)
- Open and laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy, to treat uterine and vaginal vault prolapse
- Retropubic and transobturator suburethral slings (bladder slings) for incontinence
- Sacral neuromodulation for overactive bladder and urinary retention
- Transperineal surgical approaches to treat defecatory disorders and fecal incontinence
- Transurethral injection of bulk-enhancing agents to treat stress incontinence
- Transvaginal and transabdominal approaches for pelvic floor disorders
- Using grafts to repair recurrent and complex prolapse
We also offer a number of other diagnostic and treatment options, including:
- Coordinating with pelvic floor physical therapists
- Cystourethroscopy management of defecatory dysfunction
- Medically managing overactive bladder and interstitial cystitis
- Pelvic muscle rehabilitation
- Pessaries, a non-surgical treatment for prolapse
