VP Shunt Placement
Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt surgery is performed by a neurosurgeon to relieve pressure inside the skull caused by too much cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) on the brain. The fluid is drawn off (shunted) from the ventricles in the brain into the abdominal cavity.
