Taping for Improved Strength, Posture and Alignment in Neurologically Impaired Children

March 28 – 29, 2014, Friday – Saturday

Course Description:

The continuing education hours obtained at this course qualify toward NDTA re-certification.

Enhance therapy outcomes in your pediatric clients, birth through adolescence, with neuromotor impairments and issues with alignment utilizing taping techniques presented in this course. You will practice with several different materials on the other course participants to achieve specific objectives. Examples of intervention with children utilizing taping procedures will reinforce learning for clinical applications. Course includes videotapes, analysis and intensive labs. Leave armed with a new technique to add to your therapy tool kit.

• Theory and principles of taping as adjunct to therapy
• The role of strengthening as it relates to enhance taping results
• Kinetic taping (neoprene, lycra, Thera-togs, Hip Helpers, body suits, Superwrap)
• Techniques using therapeutic elastic tape
• Rigid Taping for the trunk, shoulder, lower extremities, feet, ankle

Jacqueline Grimenstein and Dawn Morgan

Jacqueline Grimenstein, PT received her bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1974. She has practiced in a variety of settings over the years. Presently she is Director of Outpatient Services at Weisman Children's Rehabilitation Hospital in Marlton and works part time in the Audubon NJ Public School System. She has taught taping extensively and functional exercise for children with neurologic impairments throughout the US and Canada and is currently a candidate for her NDT PT instructors' certificate. She is a certified Kinesiotaping Practitioner.
