Community Medical Care for Children

At Mary Bridge Children’s Health Center, we want children to have the best care possible. That’s why we offer Community Medical Care for Children (CMCC) clinic.

Pediatric Services

3kidsCMCC provides well-child exams, immunizations, and treats common childhood illnesses, as well as sudden and ongoing illness. Our clinic serves children and teens from birth to 18 years old from Tacoma and South Puget Sound communities.

All clinic visits are by appointment, with some same-day appointments available for serious illness.

The CMCC team includes doctors and nurse practitioners experienced in taking care of all children. A free, after-hours MultiCare Consulting Nurse Line is also available by calling 253-403-2999.

Special Care for Special Children

CMCC also provides care and serves as a medical home to a variety of special groups of children.

Children in Foster Care: Children in both private-agency and state-managed (DCFS) foster homes are seen for well child care (EPSDT) exams and are followed for sudden and ongoing medical problems, even as they move to other foster homes, are sent back to their family or are adopted.

Children with serious, ongoing medical and/or developmental issues: CMCC helps care for children with a variety of ongoing medical issues. Our clinic staff works closely with Mary Bridge specialists, Mary Bridge IPS and other community resources to provide all the care these children need.

Children with mental illness: CMCC staff helps diagnose children with common mental health issues, including Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Depression and Anxiety Disorders, and can help make sure those children get the right medication.

Teens: Basic birth control management, sexually transmitted disease prevention and treatment services, and other teen health care services are provided at CMCC.

Infants and young children living in drug treatment programs with their mothers: CMCC provides health care for children who live with their mothers in residential drug treatment programs in the Tacoma area.

Infants living with their mothers in prison: CMCC staff provides health care for infants who live with their mothers in the Residential Parenting Program at the Washington Corrections Center for Women in Gig Harbor.

Children from non-English speaking families: CMCC doctors speak Spanish and interpreter services are available for most languages.
