Nephrology and Hypertension

The Mary Bridge Pediatric Nephrology Clinic, through a multidisciplinary care team, cares for infants, children and young adults with a variety of renal conditions, including:

Hypertension

• Electrolyte abnormalities

Glomerulonephritis

Urinary tract infections

Acute and chronic renal failure

• End-stage renal disease

• Proteinuria/nephrotic syndrome

Our nephrology program is staffed by a pediatric care team, which includes pediatric nephrologists, pediatric nurses, a renal dietician, a social worker and an exercise specialist. Mary Bridge works closely with Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center in Seattle for dialysis and acute transplant services, providing comprehensive services and 24-hour nephrology physician coverage.

Mary Bridge Nephrology Program offers a full range of outpatient services, including:

• Diagnostic evaluation

• Comprehensive treatment plans

• 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitoring

• Prenatal consultation

• Renal dietary consults and social work support

• Nephrology nursing for added teaching and follow up services

 

An end-stage renal disease program is available through our joint Nephrology Program with Children’s Hospital & Regional Medical Center. The multidisciplinary renal team manages infants, children, adolescents, and young adults who are on chronic home dialysis. Our team works closely with local urologists in the community to assure seamless care is provided between a child’s surgery and complex management of patient care.

 

Hypertension Program

Our Hypertension Program provides comprehensive evaluation and management of essential and secondary hypertension in children and adolescents, ages birth to 18, in coordination with referring health care providers.

Mary Bridge offers a program that emphasizes the positive effects of a healthy lifestyle. In addition to appropriate medical therapy, the clinic emphasizes education and other therapies including exercise, diet and weight management.
