MultiCare CEO wins Woman of Influence award
MultiCare Health System President & CEO Diane Cecchettini, RN, has been named a Woman of Influence by the Puget Sound Business Journal for her role in the state’s health care industry.
Ms. Cecchettini was nominated by Leo Greenawalt, president and CEO of the Washington State Hospital Association, for her visionary leadership and passion for improving the safety and the quality of health care in Washington.
"Diane has been an extraordinary leader not just for her health system but for all hospitals and health systems across the state. She has been a stalwart champion of patient safety and high quality care, and her efforts have resulted in real improvement for patients across our state," Greenawalt said.
She will be recognized along with 15 other women on Nov. 18 in Seattle.
As an industry leader, Ms. Cecchettini championed patient safety initiatives among her peers while on the Washington State Hospital Association Patient Safety Committee and worked to develop a state-wide hand washing initiative to improve the rate of hospital-acquired infections. Ms Cecchettini also pushed for hospitals across Washington to pledge to be infection-free by 2012 – a pledge MultiCare Health System also has made.
Under her leadership, MultiCare has implemented quality initiatives that improved the care provided to patients at all four hospitals and dozens of care sites around the South Sound.
MultiCare has grown to become the largest health system in the south Puget Sound and the largest private employer in Pierce County with more than 9,100 employees.
Ms. Cecchettini advocated for MultiCare to become an early adopter of an electronic health record. Today, MultiCare is a national leader in the integration of electronic health records across inpatient and outpatient settings. For her accomplishments, she was awarded the prestigious “2009 CEO IT Achievement Award” from Modern Healthcare Magazine and the Healthcare Information and Management System Society (HIMSS) – a respected national organization in this field.
She is a past Chair of the Washington State Hospital Association. Diane has also held numerous other state and national leadership positions in the healthcare industry, including serving on the Board of the Directors for VHA and serving on the First Choice Health Network Board.
